Make Room for the Introverts

A great TED Talk about society’s view of introverts and our obsession with extroverted leadership.

How can we as teachers, administrators, parents, etc rethink the way we view introverts and extroverts?  Are you an introvert?  How about your school’s leaders?  Is your school a good place to be an introvert?

  1. She has some really great points about allowing students and teachers time to “go to the wilderness” to think, but my challenge as an international teacher in Asia is that my students are often inclined to always “be in the wilderness.” I teach a number of ESL students and they are reluctant to work with others but need to in order to improve their English. Then, it seems, they go home at night and play video games online by themselves. It’s easy to respect the hard working and intelligent introvert, but what about the quiet and anti-social students?
